Obituary for David P. Hart
David P. Hart, age 68, passed away Wednesday, January 23rd, 2002, at his home in Altus, Oklahoma. He was born November 29, 1933 in Little Rock, Arkansas to F.M. and Hannah (Taylor) Hart.

He attended J. E. Bush Elementary and graduated from Dunbar High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. After graduation he joined the United States Air Force and served from 1954 to 1975. He had aircraft maintenance experience, certified safety credentials, communications experience with training and experience in cryptographic operations.

He served as United States Army Safety Director at several bases in the United States, receiving numerous awards and accomodations. He returned to Altus to run, on several occasions, for a seat on the City Council and for the office of Mayor. At the time of his death he was running for an Altus School Board seat.

He was a member of the Lions Club, serving as First Vice-President. He was named Lion of the Year in 2000. He also served as Senior Vice Commander of the local VFW Post #4876, Secretary of the Jackson County Fair Board, member of Jackson County Democrats, S.W. Community Action, Altus Vision 2020, and a member of the Chamber of Commerce. He owned and operated Dave Hart and Associates Safety Consultants.

Dave had numerous degrees from Altus Junior College, WOSC, Air Force Community College and the California Coast University with an MBA.

David and Ollie Johnson were united in marriage August 23, 1969in Dover, Delaware. He was a member of the Highland Heights Methodist Church and He is preceded active member of the Methodist Men's Group.

He is preceded in death by his father, F.M. Hart; mother, and stepfather Hannah and Bert Smith; sisters Odessa Jackson, Dorothy Hart, Geneva Banks; one brother, Richard Hart; one son, Richard Christopher Johnson.

He is survived by his wife Ollie of the home in Altus, Oklahoma; two daughters, Rosalyn and Andrew Hall of Altus, Oklahoma and Wanda and Razzie Harmon of Altamonte Springs, Florida; four sons, Warren Hart of Little Rock, Arkansas, Bobby Wingfield of McAlester, Oklahoma, Hardy Wingfield of Compton, California, Ernest Wingfield of Germany. He is also survived by granddaughters, Jacquetta Riley, Erica Harris, Ashia Harmon, Margaret Shaw, Patsy Brown, Sondra Webb, Brenda Tamez, Shenetta Roblez, Kathy Hall, Brenda Moore, Jamarla Moore, Jessica Williams and Kendra Williams; four grandsons, Jeremy Harris, Terry Hall, Christopher Harmon, Kevin Harmon.

Funeral Services are scheduled for Saturday, January 26, 2002 at 10:00 a.m.in the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Marty Barnes officiating, assisted by Rev Robert Bostic and Rev Mark Sewell. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Lions Club or the American Cancer Society in memory of David P. Hart.

Family of David Hart will receive friends Friday evening, January 25, 2002 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
