Obituary for David Alfred Miedel
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of David A. Miedel, who left us peacefully in his home in Granite, Oklahoma, on January 11, 2025, at the age of sixty-seven. Born on December 3, 1957, to William and Louise (Seward) Miedel in Dayton, Ohio, David's life was marked by love, dedication, and a profound sense of community.
At a young age, David's family relocated to Granite, Oklahoma, where he was raised and educated. He graduated from Granite High School in 1976. David began his career working as a teller for the Town of Granite, driven by a desire to provide a better life for himself and his family while serving his community. In 1978 David began working as a teller for Bank of Granite. His journey in banking spanned over forty-five years, marked by his unwavering commitment and excellence. In December 1998, David started working at the All America Bank in Sentinel, Oklahoma, where he served as the Senior Vice President of Banking Operations while continuing his role as a teller.
David was also a dedicated Freemason and Master Mason in Granite and Altus, Oklahoma. His commitment to his community was evident in all aspects of his life.
In 1978, David married Melinda (Teadon) Berry, and together they made their home in Granite, Oklahoma. On June 22, 1988, David's life was forever changed with the birth of his daughter Amanda. Being a father was David's greatest accomplishment, and he found immense joy in earning the title of "Grandpa" to Serenity and Trucker.
David was a beacon of kindness and love, always putting others before himself with a selfless, servant heart. His generosity knew no bounds, and his loving soul touched all who were blessed to know him. He was truly one-of-a-kind, leaving a lasting impact on everyone he met.
As we grapple with the sudden loss of David, we find solace in knowing that he is rejoicing in Heaven with those he has longed to see once more. He was preceded in death by his father, William Miedel ;mother, Louise (Seward) Miedel Skidgel, stepfather, Dean Skidgel; his best friend and the mother of his daughter, Melinda Landers; and his daughter, Amanda Miedel.
Left to carry on his legacy are his granddaughter, Serenity Deliz; grandson, Trucker Upergrove; son-in-law, Jack Deliz; Nieces, nephews, great- nieces great -nephews and other extended family members, his beloved work colleagues, whom he considered family; and a host of friends.
The Miedel family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Greer Funeral Home, Granite, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2025 at Granite First Baptist Church, Granite, Oklahoma with Pastor Branden Handke officiating. David will be laid to rest next to his daughter Amanda at Granite City Cemetery.
