Obituary for Darwin Jay Garringer
Darwin Garringer, age 79, passed away at his home in Altus Sunday, February 13, 2011, after a long struggle with melanoma cancer.
He was born September 17th, 1931, in Wichita, Kansas, to Jay Thomas and Gertrude Ada (Paris) Garringer. He married Frances Elizabeth Kretz September 27, 1958, in Wichita, Kansas.
After serving four years in the Air Force, he graduated from Wichita University with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He worked for NASD at Edwards Air Force Base, California, before coming to Altus Air Force Base as a Civil Engineer, retiring in 1994 after thirty years of Civil Service.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Frances, son Glen, and daughter Leslie Deweese, son-in-law Mike Deweese, and granddaughter Deonna Deweese.
Private Memorial Services will be held by the family at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus.
