Obituary for Daniel Rayford Clemmer
Daniel Rayford Clemmer, 83, long time resident of Willow, Oklahoma passed away on August 17, 2020 in Elk City, Oklahoma. Daniel was born on October 22, 1936 in Munday, Texas to Daniel and Pearl (Williams) Clemmer. His family moved to the Willow area in 1937.
He graduated from Lake Creek High School in 1954 and then joined the Air Force in 1955 where he was stationed in Japan. Daniel worked in the intelligence division as a code breaker during his time in the military. He was immensely proud of the work he did serving his country.
Daniel married the love of his life, Marguarete "Marvette" (Holt) in 1960 in Kermit, Texas. They moved to Shamrock, Texas in March 1966 where they raised their daughters. While he was there, he taught private pilot lessons to people around the area.Over the course of 29 years he clocked over 2000 hours flying. He graduated from Waylon Baptist College in 1979 where he pursued a bachelor's degree in Education and Business while working a full-time job and teaching private flying lessons. He and Marguarete moved to Jal, New Mexico in 1982, and then on to El Paso 1989. Daniel worked for El Paso Natural Gas for thirty-seven years before retiring to his boyhood home east of Willow, Oklahoma in 1996. He spent his retirement being a "gentlemen farmer." He enjoyed working around his land and doing whatever he needed to take care of the land and their home. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Willow. Daniel enjoyed being able to fix anything that needed to be done for the church and others. Daniel will be remembered as an honest, hardworking, and intelligent man. He loved his family and cherished the time he spent with his children and grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Brothers, Dale Clemmer and Richard Clemmer; Sister, Golda Brown; and Grandchild, Kevin Thompson.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Marguarete; Daughters, Misty Hendricks and husband Mike, Danna Thompson, and husband Stephen; Grandchildren, Courtney Smith and husband Sean, Katie Thompson, and Elizabeth Thompson; Great-Grandchildren, Martin Thompson, Jane Smith, and Lucy Smith.
