Curtis A. Collier


Curtis A. Collier was born February 2, 1913 at Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He died November 17, 1993 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. He married Elizabeth Banks and she preceded him in death.
He married Opal Watson July 3, 1962 at Vernon, Texas. He was a long time resident of Altus having resided here since 1962.
He was employed as a Pipe fitter for over 40 years and retired in 1978, from Local # 344. He was a long time member of the Elks Golf and County Club where he was an avid golfer, having served as Club Champion three different times. He had also won the Arkansas Amateur State Championship in 1934 and 1935.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was the son of Jake and Ora Collier, he graduated from Ft. Smith High School in 1932.
Services are scheduled for 10 am Friday at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Pate officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Park Cemetery, 11 am Saturday in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. A memorial in honor of Curtis Collier has been established at the First United Methodist Church to the Elevator Fund.

Collier Jr. of Bellevue, Washington; Thomas A. Collier of Phoenix, Arizona; brother Roy Collier of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sister, Margaret Delahoyde of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Joan Dunzy of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Craig Collier, Cory Collier..
Preceded in death by parents, wife, Elizabeth Banks Collier, sister, Helen Collier Rose.
