Coy Gene Knox
Coy Gene Knox, 78 of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus
Coy was born November 17, 1939 to Earl and Mary Knox in Elk City, Oklahoma. He grew up and was educated in Blair, graduating high school in 1958. Following graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force serving as a Transportation Supervisor. While he was stationed in England he met Margaret Cooke at a dance. They were married April 23,1962 in Reading, England. He proudly served his country in Vietnam and retired from military service in 1977. Upon retiring he returned home to begin his new career at the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. Coy was a supervisor working to maintain and repair bridges and roads throughout the state. He retired from the state in 2007. Coy was a friend to everyone, he had never met a stranger or someone he couldn't have a conversation with in his seventy eight years. One of his favorite passed times was going to Wal-Mart and meeting new people.
Coy is survived by his wife Margaret (Cooke)Knox of the home, his son, Earl Knox of Houston, Texas; his daughters, Mary Knox of Dallas, Texas, and Patty Knox of Dallas, Texas; One sister Betty Boyles of Lawton, Oklahoma; one granddaughter Emeley Knox, two adopted grandchildren Victoria Grimes and Christopher Grimes.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and four sisters.
A visitation will be 6pm -8pm Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Lowell- Tims Funeral Home, Altus, Oklahoma.
Military Honors will be rendered at Fort Sill National Cemetery 2:00 P.M., Thursday, February 8, 2018. Funeral Services have been entrusted to Lowell-Tims Funeral Home, Altus, Oklahoma.
