Obituary for Cora Clyde Dickey Bates
Cora Bates, 96, passed away November 11, 1979 in Altus, Oklahoma. Funeral services were at 2:00 pm Tuesday, November 13th at the Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl McCoy officiating. Burial was in the Altus City Cemetery.

She was born Cora Clyde Dickey on March 25, 1883 to Hadly P and Belle (Lander) Dickey in Blossom, Texas. She married John Bates on August 11, 1899 and they moved to Altus in 1935. John preceded her in death in 1956. Cora was the last charter member of the 1st Assembly of God Church in Altus.

Cora was survived by four daughters, Maggie Belle Coursey, Ruby Johnston, Ruth Lynn and Beatrice Friend, all of Altus; four sons, Frank Bates of Altus, Jack Bates of Headrick, Dick Bates of Anadarko, Oklahoma and James Bates of Spokane, Washington. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
