Claude Pittman was born October 23, 1932 in Idabel, Oklahoma. He was the son of the late Robert Monroe and Lagatha (Sharp) Pittman. He died November 19, 2000 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital.

Claude married Dorothy Monk August 29, 1953. He served in the United States Army. He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 35 years, before retiring in 1986. He was a long time member and very active worker in the First Baptist Church. Claude also served as a School Bus Driver for many years. He served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at the First Baptist Church. He was a Promise Keeper and Prison Ministry Volunteer.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Pittman; three children, Claudia Young and husband Donald of Altus, Oklahoma, Roy Pittman and wife Gwen of Columbia, Mississippi and Roger Pittman of Dallas, Texas; three brothers, Robert Pittman and wife Ruby of Idabel Oklahoma, William Pittman and wife Jo of Lawton, Oklahoma and Lloyd Pittman and wife Joyce of Tucson, Arizona; five grandchildren, Cassie, Mandy, Lacy, Allyson and Chyna; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.

Services are scheduled for Wednesday, November 22, 2000, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Wiginton and Roger Alan Pittman officiating. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home.
