Obituary for Claude Edward Scoggin
Funeral arrangements have been completed for Claude Edward Scoggin, age 73, who passed away last Sunday, February 16th, 1986, morning at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday afternoon at the Macedonia Baptist Church with The Reverend Cornelius Jefferson officiating. Burial will be in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Funeral Home.

Mr. Scoggin was a long time member of the Altus community since 1933. He was born May 9th, 1912 in Nashville, Arkansas. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942. He returned to his home in Altus and worked for the Federal Government until his retirement in May of 1977.

He is survived by: his wife, Laverne Alexander Scoggin of the home; three daughters, Beverly Lemon of Altus, Ruth Ann Scoggin of St. Paul, MN and Claudette S. Bowen of Groton, CT; one son, Donald Ray Jefferson of Atlanta, GA; a nephew, William E. Williams of Oklahoma City, OK; three grandsons, Daron Jefferson of Altus, Courtney Claude Lemon of Altus, and Trevor Bowen of Groton, CT; many more relatives in California, Michigan, Arkansas and Oklahoma.

Mr. Scoggin was a long time active member of the following: American Legion Post 44, National Association of Retired Employees, American Association of Retired Persons, Disabled American Veterans, and the American Federation of Government Employees. He was also a long time member of the Altus Macedonia Baptist and the Macedonia Baptist Brotherhood.
