Obituary for Claries Ryan Turner
Claries Ryan turner was born November 5, 1904 in Dixon Springs, Illinois. She was the daughter of the late Marshall O. and Julian Ann (Dyer) Dixon. She died December 29, 2001 in the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. She moved to Mounds, Oklahoma with her family in 1916, where she grew up and graduated from High School. She married A.J. Ryan in November of 1929. The moved to Altus in 1945. She was a member of the First Christian Church, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, served on the church board and was an active member of the Gladiolus Unit of the Altus Garden Club Council. she worked for many years at the Altus Drug Store and 10 years for the City of Altus. After retiring she worked as a volunteer for Jackson County Memorial Hospital and the Bloodmobile. She married W. D. Turner in 1957 and he preceded her in death in December of 1975. Her hobbies were flowers, genealogy, and crossword puzzles.

Survivors include; 2 children; Jo Ann Ryan Parrish of Altus, Oklahoma, and Andy Ryan and Benda of Tucson, Arizona. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Ronda Parrish and husband, Robby Dart, Stuart Parrish, Matt Parrish and wife, Lisa, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Andrea Parrish Smith and husband, randy, Jeff Parrish of Altus, Oklahoma, Tracy Parrish Harris and husband, Cliff, of Tucson, Arizona, A.F.B., James Ryan and wife, Bernie, of Norman, Oklahoma, eight great-grandchildren, Rachel Hudgens, Alishia Parrish Finstad, Casey Smith, Nikki Smith, Starla Parrish, Renae Ross, Kiowa Ryan and Amanda Ryan; two great-great-grandchilddren, Jayde Hudgens and Enterprise Parrish Finstad, three step-daughters, Shirley, Willa Dean and Dottie. She is preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and three brothers.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, January 2, 2002 at 2:00pm in the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Jim Brown officiating.

Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

The family of Claries Ryan Turner will greet friends Tuesday evening January 1,2002 from 5:00 to 7:00pm at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
