Chelsey B. Channell, age 78 of Mangum, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, April 7, 2014 at his home in Mangum.
Chelsey was born in Delano, California on April 30, 1935 to Isaac Denton and Maudie Mae (Owens) Channell. Chelsey served his country in the United States Marine Corps and received an honorable discharge. On July 22, 1966 he married Bernice Jean Johnson in Visilia, California and they were married for over 46 years before his death. He worked as a machinist and ran his own business for many years. Chelsey enjoyed playing golf and traveling with his wife.
Preceded in death by his parents; one son, Goerge Wayne Channell; one daughter, Sandra Kay Olson; Chelsey was the second youngest of 12 children and he is preceded by seven brothers and four sisters; Chelsey is survived by his wife, Bernice Channell of the home; one son, Donald Gene Channell of California; two daughters, Debra Gail Sisler and husband Darrell of California; Vickie Denise Channell and her friend Craig of California; four grandsons, Justin, Eric Jeremy, and Robert; three granddaughters, Amanda, Tabitha, and Melissa; five great grandchildren, Jade, Anthony, Ryan, Aiden, and Laydon; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Following cremation services there will be a private family service at a later date under the direction of Greer Funeral Home-Mangum.
