Charlie Joe Gibson, age 81 of Altus, passed away early Tuesday morning as the result of a motor vehicle accident, north of Blair, on State Highway 44, in Kiowa County.

Charlie was born on October 7, 1925, at Tishomingo, Oklahoma to Charlie Emmanuel and Henrietta (Shelton) Gibson. On September 1, 1973, Charlie married Mildred Stephens in Altus and she preceded him in death on December 28, 1995. A member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church, Charlie was a hard worker all his life, who loved fishing and telling jokes. Drinking coffee with his buddies and spending time with his friends and family were the things he enjoyed most in life.

For many years, Charlie worked at the Altus Cotton Oil Mill and from 1975 until 1989, he worked at Kizziar's Feed Lot. After retirement from the cattle feed operations, he worked at Surplus City and most recently for Wilmes Chevrolet and Wilmes Superstore.
