CHAVERS
Charles "Chuck" Chavers, age 59 a Mangum resident for over 20 years and formerly from Arkansas, passed away early Friday, June 20, 2014 at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City.
Chuck was born in Clarksville, Arkansas on November 1, 1954 to Charles Henderson and Ida Marie (Demmet) Chavers. He served his country in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge. On November 5, Chuck married Ramona June Cowell in Wellington, Texas and they were married for over fourteen years before her death in 2008. Chuck worked in many different fields and he was really proud of his work on the I-540 bypass between Alma and West Fork, Arkansas as a dynamite blaster. Chuck enjoyed working cattle, spending time with family and friends, and especially is dog Benner.
Preceded in death by his parents; his wife Ramona; two sisters, Kathy Chavers and Doris Jean Chavers-Cables; Chuck is survived by his step father, Paul C. Morrison of Kansas; one daughter, Amanda Holman and husband JL of Arkansas; one brother, Darrell "Curley" Chavers and wife Glenda of Mangum; three grandchildren; brother-in-law, Warren Cables of Texas; brother-in-law, Danny Cowell and wife Trish of Arkansas; sister-in-law, Kat Bernholz and husband Bernie of Pennsylvania; four nephews, Tye Cables and wife Kim of Texas; Dustin Childers and wife Kathy of Arkansas; Darrin Childers of Arkansas; Joey Cowell and wife Kristen of Arkansas; two nieces, Brandie Yates and husband John of Arkansas; Amy Chavers of Mangum; as well as numerous other relatives and many friends.
Memorial services will be 2:00 pm, Friday, June 27, 2014 at the Grace Christian Fellowship Church with Pastor Shawn Johnson officiating under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
