Charles Andrew Spencer, 73, of Mangum, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2026. He was born on May 15, 1953, to Evelyn Lott. Charles grew up in Oklahoma and graduated from Hobart High School. He was known for his strong work ethic and dedication throughout his life. For more than twenty years, he worked at the American Gypsum Plant, where he earned the respect and friendship of his coworkers before retiring after many years of faithful service. On December 23, 1989, Charles married the love of his life, Bertha Spencer, in Mangum, Oklahoma. Together they shared thirty-six wonderful years of marriage filled with love, devotion, and countless cherished memories. Their relationship was built on faith, commitment, and a deep love for one another. Charles was a devoted member of the Mangum Church of Christ, where he faithfully worshipped and enjoyed fellowship with his church family. His faith was an important part of his life and guided him in the way he treated others—with kindness, compassion, and respect. Charles enjoyed the simple things in life and found great joy in fishing, a pastime he loved throughout his life. He also took pride in working with his hands, whether it was tinkering on his boat or tending to his yard, which he cared for with great dedication. A homebody at heart, he was happiest at home with his beloved wife, whose companionship he cherished deeply. Family was the center of his life. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and loved ones, and he especially enjoyed supporting his grandchildren in all of their activities. If there was an event to attend, he was there whenever he could be, always showing up with love and encouragement. Charles was genuinely a good man—kind, dependable, and always willing to lend a helping hand. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to his family. His legacy of love, generosity, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his Mother, Evelyn Lott; Son, Scotty Ganaway; Brother, Thomas McMurry; and sister, Nana McMurry.
Left to honor his loving memory is his wife, Bertha Spencer; Sons, Charles (CJ) Spencer Jr. and Wife Olivia, Derrick Garrett and wife Amanda, Courtney and Djuan; Daughter, Gaysha Elix and husband Kenneth; Brothers, Nate McMurry and Otis McMurry; and Twelve grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.
