Obituary for Carlos Ruiz Sr.
Carlos Ruiz Sr., age 45, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2005, at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton.

Carlos was born November 4, 1959, in Spur, Texas, to Francisco and Isabel (Rodriquez) Ruiz. He graduated from Blair High School in 1978 and was a hard worker all his life. He started out pulling cotton at the age of 8 and then at the age of 16 worked at the Martha Cotton Gin. After graduation, he went to work for ORO.
He then worked for Llyod Smith Auto for 10 years before going to the Air Force Base to work in Nonappropriated Funds (NAF), 97th Service Squardron from the spring of 1990 until spring of 2001 when he became a civil service employee for the 97th Maintenance Directorate. He was currently employed by Civil Service as a tool and parts attendant in the Tanker Division, where his love of Vehicles enabled him to become the Vehicle Control Monitor for the division. He also worked part-tine at the Altus Wal-Mart in addition to his job at Civil Service.

Carlos was very active in his community where he served on the American GI Forum and was appointed by Governor Frank Keating to serve on the Oklahoma Hispanic Committee. He also volunteered for the American Red Cross for several years. Carlos loved working on Cars, riding his motorcycle, and loved music and dancing. He way very proud of the year he was named tortilla champion during Hispanic week in 1989, when he beat out his own mother, who received 2nd place. Carlos was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Altus.

He is survived by his sons, Carlos Ruiz Jr., of Oklahoma City and Mario Ruiz of Altus; his parents, Francisco and Isabel Ruiz of Altus; his brothers and sisters, Rick Ruiz and wife Mary, Michael Ruiz and wife Rhonda, Irene Roblez, Amelia Costner, Lupe Marquez, Isabel Long and husband Kirk, and Christina Ruiz, all of Altus. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many friends. Carlos was preceded in death by one brother, Francisco Ruiz, Jr.

A Rosary will be held 7:00 pm Tuesday, August 9, at Lowell-Tims Chapel in Altus.
Funeral services will be held 10;00 am Wednesday, August 10, at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Altus with Father Joseph Arledge officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
