Obituary for Carlos Ramon Ponce Duarte
Carlos Ramon Ponce Duarte, a longtime resident of Hollis, Oklahoma, passed away on February 19, 2026, in Amarillo, Texas. He was born on October 2, 1977, in Guerrero, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Lorenzo Ponce Perez and Maria Elisa Duarte.
At the age of 17, seeking a better life, Carlos moved to Hollis to work in the farming industry a trade that would define his career. He was a dedicated and hardworking man, spending 17 years with Horton Farms and over two decades working for various cotton operations in the area.
Carlos was baptized in the Catholic Church in Mexico. A quiet soul who valued simplicity, he found great solace in the company of his animals and in listening to his music. He looked forward to weekends spent at the casinos in Lawton, where he enjoyed playing the slot machines. He also had a deep appreciation for good food, especially Maria's tortillas and pork chops, and he never turned down a meal shared with good company.
Above all, Carlos loved his family with all his heart and soul, always caring for his loved ones more than himself. He was easy going, easy to get along with, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his father, Lorenzo Ponce Perez; his brother, Javier Ponce; his nephew, Tomas Duarte ; and his great-niece, Areyza Elizabeth Nevarez.
