Obituary for C.D. Strickland
C. D. Strickland, 84 of Altus, passed away Friday in Gainesville, Texas. He was born November 25, 1914 in Civit, Oklahoma, to William D. and Voise Leola Crowder. He moved to Altus from Snyder, Oklahoma in 1957.
Mr. Strickland was a retired employee of the City of Altus where he served in the Water Department for over 20 years.
C.D. Strickland and Gwendolyn White were united in marriage in September of 1935, and she preceded him in death in 1986. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and served his church in many capacities.
He is survived by two children, Sherry Harrod of Lake Kiowa, Texas and Charles Russell Strickland of Roosevelt, Utah; one sister, Juanita Peirce of Mt. Home, Idaho; three grandchildren, Thomas Lynn Harrod of Ft. Worth, Texas, Candace Ann Harrod of San Antonio, Texas, and Glen Douglas Strickland of Utha; and 3 great-great grandchildren, Mikey, Kerry and Ricky.
Me. Strickland was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one brother, Woodrow Stickland.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Wiginton officiating. Burial will follow at Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
