Obituary for CB Sheward
CB Sheward, 90, resident of Mangum, Oklahoma passed away on May 12, 2021 in Altus, Oklahoma. CB was born on March 3, 1931 to Lee Desmond Sheward and Chloe (Scarborough) Sheward In McQueen, Oklahoma. CB was raised and educated in Greer County. In 1952 CB swore to uphold and defend the United States of America which is a commitment he saw through his entire life. Upon joining the United States Army, he was an Infantryman in the 35th Infantry division. He married the love of his life, Leona Jo Tinsley on February 18, 1953. After serving two years in the Korean War, CB continued his service to his country in the Army National Guard, serving from 1954- 1964 with the 45th Thunderbird 245th Tank Battalion. After proudly serving his country, CB came back to Greer County where he and his brothers owned the Sheward Brothers Station. CB also owned the Spanish Peaks Campground in Cuchara, Colorado from 1977-1981. His life’s work was as the Executive Director for twenty-seven years of the Mangum Housing Authority until he retired in 2016. CB was a member of the VFW, American Legion, a charter member of the Lions Club, and a Deacon of the First Baptist Church of Mangum. CB was a lifelong and faithful servant of Jesus Christ. He enjoyed camping and traveling with his sweetheart of sixty-eight years, “Jody”, crafting, going on family vacations, giving others a hard time and most of all, spending time with his family and friends.
CB is preceded in death by his parents; Brothers, L.D. Sheward and G.W. Sheward; Sister, Naomi Buck.
Left to honor his memory is his wife, Leona Jo Sheward; Son, Rick Sheward and wife Shirlene; Daughter Debbie Shepherd and husband Darell; Granddaughters, J.J. Sheward and Kathy Dobbins; Great grandson, Kyler Dobbins; Sister, Nina Blasingame.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the First Baptist Church in
Mangum or The Lions Eye Bank of Oklahoma, or a charity of your choice.
