FLETCHER
Brenda (Klepper) Fletcher, age 62 of St. John, Kansas and formerly of Mangum, Oklahoma, passed away early Wednesday morning, May 21, 2014 after a car accident near Vici, Oklahoma.
Brenda was born in Mangum on August 17, 1951 to Charles Vance and Wilma Joyce (Lyon) Klepper. She was a 1969 graduate of Mangum High School and on January 23, 1970 she married Loyd Wayne Fletcher at the Trinity Baptist Church in Mangum and they were married for over 28 years before Loyd"s death in 1998. Brenda attended college at Southwestern Oklahoma State University as well as Panhandle State University and she graduated with a degree in education from Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma. After graduating from college she began her teaching career in Guthrie, Oklahoma as a First Grade Teacher and later moved back home to Mangum and she taught Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade until her retirement in 2008. After retirement Brenda moved to Kansas to be closer to her family but she never lost her love for teaching and she worked as substitute teacher at the Community Day Care Center in Garden City, Kansas and in Ingalls, Kansas. Brenda enjoyed reading, traveling, dogs, painting, and spending time with her family and especially her four grandbabies and she will be missed very much.
Preceded in death by her parents; her husband Loyd in 1998; one son, Michael Keith Fletcher in 2011; one brother-in-law, Guy Brooks; and her beloved dog, Annie Sue; Brenda is survived by one daughter, Krista Knackstedt and her husband Justin of St. John, Kansas; one daughter-in-law, Suzi Fletcher of Sentinel, Oklahoma; her brother, Jim Klepper and his wife Pam of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; three sisters-in-law, Anne Brooks of Granite, Oklahoma; Tammy Rogers and her husband Barry of Colorado; Martha Zachary of McAlester, Oklahoma; four grandbabies, Ethan and Emma Fletcher; and Grant and Kendi Knackstedt; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Graveside services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Granite City Cemetery with Pastor Terry Jordan officiating under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Granite.
Following graveside services there will be a Celebration of Life Reception at 12:30 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Granite, Oklahoma.
