Obituary for Brenda Cheryl Brooks

Brenda Cheryl Brooks, age 75, passed away in the loving arms of her daughter and son-in-law

on Friday, January 30th 2026 in Wilburton, OK.

Brenda was born to Beryl Junior Hubbell. and Monte Joan {Phillips} Hubbell on January 22nd,

1951 in Tulsa, OK. She later married in Tulsa, where the couple welcomed their son, Scott.

They were then stationed in Landstuh, Germany where they welcomed their daughter, Sheryl.

Brenda lived in Carrier and Enid, Oklahoma. before making her way to Mangum in the summer

of 1977. For several years, she was a member of the Blair Broncs riding club where she

enjoyed playdays and being a member of the drill team. She took lessons and learned English

style riding and enjoyed competitions on her horse, Grey. A lover of anything with fur and 4 legs,

she spent many hours riding, raising goats and sheep and taking in any animal that needed

love.

After a brief career in accounting, Brenda began her career with the OK, Dept of Corrections

where she was promoted and later retired as an Unit Manager after 24 years of dedicated

service and having built lifelong friendships. After retirement , she pursued her love of goats and

sheep where she established her Red Fork Dorpers Ranch (AKA The Funny Farm). She

volunteered her time to the local 4-H club helping youth learn livestock education and oftentime

providing them with show animals earning the title of “Crazy Goat Lady”. She was a member of

the Red River Cowboy Church where she loved driving the horse and wagon as well as

participating in kids rodeos, ranch rodeos, barrel races and parades. She traveled many miles to

provide livestock for numerous church and kid’s rodeos in various towns throughout Oklahoma.

Brenda is preceded in death by her parents, Beryl and Monte Hubbell, sister Sandy Nesmith

and one grandchild, Bailey Moore. She is survived by her son Scott Clary and wife Charlotte, of

Mooreland, Oklahoma. Daughter, Sheryl Moore and husband Billy Moore of Haileyville,

Oklahoma. Two nieces JJ Sheward and Codi Gutierrez and husband Lalo of Mangum,

Oklahoma. Six grandchildren, Derek Ritter and his wife Justina of Hartshorne, Oklahoma,

Tiffany Roberts and husband Matthew of McAlester, Oklahoma, Kyle Guiou of McAlester,

Oklahoma, Brandi Moore and her wife Kenzie of Norman, Oklahoma, Josh Moulder of

Waukomis, Oklahoma, Amber and husband Brad Brearton of Piedmont, Oklahoma.

one grandniece, Zoe Gutierrez and two grandnephews, Kyler Dobbins and Giovanni Gutierrez

along with twelve great grandchildren.
