Obituary for Bonnie Lou Cox
Bonnie Lou Cox, Altus resident, passed away on June 28, 2022, at the Magnolia Creek Nursing Facility in Altus. She was 81 years old at the time of her death.

Bonnie was born on November 21, 1940 in Fairfield, Michigan to her parents, Keith Gilbert and Jauneta Gilbert (Davidson). She grew up in Fairfield. She married Johnie Mack Cox in Adrian, Michigan on November 23, 1958. The blessed union spanned 64 wonderful years. During her lifetime, Bonnie lived several different places including: Michigan, New Mexico, Georgia, Saudi Arabia, and Oklahoma. She was fortunate to have traveled extensively throughout the world.

She retired from work in 2021 after being employed by ATC for over 20 years as the office manager. She also worked with Hawkins Oil & Gas and Cox Lumber. Bonnie was a proud member of the Emmanuel Baptist church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, GA leader and led Childrens Church for many years. Bonnie also earned an associate's degree from Western Oklahoma State College.

In her spare time , Bonnie enjoyed bowling, cross-stitching, sewing, traveling and exploring the world and spending time with her precious grandchildren. She touched many lives with her kindness and love for others and will forever be remembered by all who knew her.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Keith and Jauneta Gilbert; her daughter Michelle Cox; and her brother, Richard Cox.

Remaining to carry on her great legacy are: her husband of 64 years, Johnie Cox; her sons: Kelly Cox and his wife, Nancy; Philip Cox and his wife, Stacy; Robert Cox and his wife, Debbie; her brother; Ed Gilbert; her grandchildren: Jenae Cox; Nolan & Julia Cox: Molly & Gene David Bryce; Bradley & Jonna Cox; Carly & Shawn McDavid; Allison & Garret Ridley, and Chloe Cox. Her great- grandchildren: Cole, Sawyer, Sutton, Mason, August and Avery, Sawyer and Payton, Brodie and Blaire: a special friend: Annie Ferrer; as well as a host of other relatives, church members, caregivers and friends.
