Obituary for Bonnie L Johnson
Bonnie Lee Barnes Johnson was born February 28, 1919 in Friendship, Oklahoma to the late Clarence "Chief" and Etta Mae (Loftis) Barnes. Bonnie died Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus, Oklahoma.
Graveside services for Bonnie Johnson are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 11, 2013 at the Altus City Cemetery, officiated by Suzanne Mollison. Arrangements are under the directions of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. There will be a visitation for family and friends Sunday, March 10, from 2:00pm until 4:00pm at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Bonnie grew up in the Friendship area going to school at Ozark and Friendship schools. She married Willard Johnson, October 2, 1937, in Altus, Oklahoma. After marriage they lived at Lugert, Ok., Blair, Ok., and Wichita Kansas. She moved back to Altus in 1943. Bonnie had worked at Woolsworth and Spears Grocery on Liveoak. She loved working in the yard taking care of her flowers. She was an avid bowler, belonging to the Traveling Bowling League Team. She was a wonderful cook who loved baking. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, and found time to work "find a word puzzles." Bonnie loved spending summers in Colorado with family and meeting new friends.
Bonnie is survived by her daughter, Linda Barclay and husband Bob, of Altus, son-in-law, Sonny Preston, of Altus; grandchildren, Sheila and David Lara, Altus; Bonnie and John Green, Murdock, Kansas; Robert Wayne Barclay, Highland, Illinois; Kelly Preston, Belleville, Illinois; Brent and Earlene Stone, Blair, Oklahoma; Travis Preston, Norman, Oklahoma; Kyle Preston, Junction City, Kansas; 14 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Gaynell Preston, husband Willard Jesse Johnson, mother, Etta Mae Barnes, father, Clarence "Chief" Barnes, brothers, Elmer, Virgil, Leon, and L.B. (Sug) Barnes.
