Obituary for Bobby Joe Hurd, III

In loving memory of Bobby Hurd III, a vibrant and beloved 15-year-old boy, who was born on November 15, 2007, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus, Oklahoma He was the cherished son of Bobby Hurd, Jr. and Jahlyssa Gibson.


Bobby possessed a lovable personality that allowed him to effortlessly connect with people of all ages and abilities. He was a student at Altus High School and was currently a freshman. Bobby had an infectious personality that could make anyone smile during the worst of moments. He loved to make people laugh. He enjoyed watching movies with his grandma, Jackie, and hanging out with his cousins, and his friends.


Bobby had a deep passion for sports and excelled at them, particularly basketball and football. Throughout his life Bobby was active in sports and played in numerous leagues in Altus. He nurtured dreams of becoming a division one athlete for The University of Oklahoma.


Above all, Bobby had a deep and unwavering faith in the Lord. This summer he adamant that he was to be baptized at a youth event at Strong Tower. He was also a member of Strong Tower Church in Altus, Oklahoma.


On October 28, 2023, Bobby bid farewell to this world, leaving behind a void in the lives of all those he touched during his 15 years on earth. His absence will be deeply felt, and his memory will forever be cherished. He was received at the gates of heaven by his beloved grandmother, Jackie Gibson, and Wilma Hyche, grandfather, I.C. Flemmons, Jr.


Left to carry on Bobby’s legacy by his loving mother, Jahlyssa Gibson, father, Bobby Hurd Jr.; sister, Anasta’jah Curtis, grandfathers, Bobby Hurd Sr., Darrel Naff. He is also survived by his uncles, Demetrice Gibson, Emery Gibson, Tenzie Moore, Jeremy and Lupe Gibson, Brien Hyche and Diane Edwards, great great aunt Earlene Lewis; will forever carry his spirit. Additionally, he leaves behind numerous cousins, friends, and special relatives, all of whom were touched by his presence.


As Bobby embarks on his eternal journey, he is joyfully reunited with his departed relatives who preceded him in death. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to have known him.

The Hurd / Gibson family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Lowell – Tims Funeral Home Chapel.


We will be celebrating the life of Bobby Hurd III which will be held on his sixteenth birthday at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Lowell – Tims Funeral Home Chapel. Interment for Bobby will be at Altus City Cemetery immediately following services. Services are entrusted to Lowell – Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.
