Betty Jane Denny, 93, a long-time resident of Granite, Oklahoma passed away peacefully in Lawton, Oklahoma on December 20, 2022.
On April 9, 1929, in Manistee, Michigan William and Amelia Soderstrom welcomed their daughter Betty to this world. Betty was raised and educated in Manistee. She attended college and received her associate's degree from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois.
Throughout Betty’s life, she faced a lot of adversity and always met it head-on and with a smile. She had a servant's heart and was always looking to help others in need. Betty enjoyed knitting, so she could make baby blankets, afghans or house slippers, she also enjoyed gardening so she could take her friends and neighbors free vegetables, and Betty was also an amazing cook who loved to share her culinary delights with her family, and friends. She always put others before herself. What gave Betty the most joy was being around her friends, family, and especially her grandchildren.
She had a strong faith in the Lord and was a long-standing member of the First Methodist Church of Granite.
Betty leaves a legacy of devotion to others, love of family, and unwavering faith in God.
She was preceded by her parents, William and Amelia Soderstrom; Sister, Barbara Wichtowski; Children, Benjamin Dee Johnson, William Comer Johnson, Eric Leland Johnson, Eva Doscia Johnson; Husbands, Earl Douglas Johnson and Lester Ervin Denny, Sr.
Left to honor Betty’s memory are her daughter, Hannah Rice, son, Lester Ervin Denny, Jr and wife Holly.; grandchildren, Lori Chandler and husband Ryan, Jessica Camp, and husband Scott, Tori Lewis and husband Preston, Toby Denny, Jack Denny; great-grandchildren, Jake Chandler, Kendall Camp, and Coleman Camp.
The Denny family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at the Greer Funeral Home in Granite, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 22, 2022, at Greer Funeral Home Chapel in Mangum, Oklahoma with interment to follow at Granite City Cemetery, Granite, Oklahoma.
Funeral services have been entrusted to Greer Funeral Home.
