Obituary for Bessie Irene Brigham
Bessie Irene Sumrall Brigham, age 84, lifetime resident of Altus, died at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital on Saturday, July 18th, 1992.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Monday, July 20, 1992 at 2 P.M. at the Lowell Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Sonny Tims officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home.
Brigham was born June 11, 1908 at Willow, OK and was the daughter of Charles Frazier and Nancy Eldora (Roberts) Sumrall. She married John Addison Brigham at Vernon, TX in August of 1948 and he preceded her in death in 1979. She was a longtime resident of Jackson County, having moved here in 1917 after coming from Old Greer County. She was a Baptist, member of AARP, involved with Senior Citizens and had worked for several grocery stores including, United Supermarkets, Pucketts, and James Grocery.
Survivors include: several nieces, Ernestine Roberts of Tulsa, OK, Linda Gruer of Alba, NM, JoAnn of Texas, Jean of Texas, Betty Pelfrey of Altus; step-daughter, Juanita Bush of Garrison, TX; nephews, Carl W. Pelfrey of Altus, Oklahoma, Robert Clarence Sumrall of Texas.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, John Brigham (1979); her parents; five brothers, Charles Dewey, Joseph Franklin, Robert Clarence, Jesse B., and Stanley Sumrall.
