Obituary for Barton Russell Kirchoff

Barton Russell Kirchoff, 75, a proud member of the Hollis community, went to see Jesus on March 19, 2026. He left behind a legacy of faith, hard work, and deep love for his family and friends.
Bart was born on May 3, 1950 in Oklahoma City to Russell and Alyce Kirchoff. He graduated from Hollis High School in 1968 before attending Oklahoma State University, where he earned his degree in Business in 1972. As a Cowboys fan, he proudly passed his love for OSU to his daughters, both of whom attended his alma mater. After college, Bart returned to Hollis to work at the family business, Dixon-Kirchoff, Inc. He started as a tire manager, moved to sales, and eventually owner until selling the business in 2017.
Above all, Bart's greatest joy was his family. He married Peggy Bartlett on June 7, 1975. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last summer. Bart was a proud and devoted father to his two daughters, Lori and Kelly. Nothing brought him more happiness than his three grandchildren, whose presence would light up his face instantly. He cherished every moment spent with them-whether fishing and sharing
scripture with Austin, feeding the dogs and riding the Polaris with Blythe, or sitting in the backyard visiting with Macy. He also loved family vacations where he enjoyed snow skiing or relaxing in a beach chair while watching the waves roll in.
Over the years, Bart worked as a business owner, cattle rancher, and farmer. He took great pride in raising his Angus cattle and cultivating his wheat and cotton crops. Bart found peace in the simple joys of life fishing, watching deer graze, and counting turkeys as they settled in for the evening. If you wanted to find Bart, you could find him visiting at the bank, getting lunch at the salebarn, having coffee with friends at the gin, driving by the farms, or taking a quick nap at home.
Bart also had a long and distinguished career in banking. He became a board member of Great Plains National Bank in 1981, a role in which he formed many meaningful and lasting friendships. His dedication to leadership was evident throughout his years of service, as he faithfully prioritized his responsibilities and often scheduled everything else around his bank meetings. He served as Chairman of the Board from 2010 to 2020 and later as Chairman of the holding company from 2020 to 2026, guiding the institution
with wisdom, commitment, and integrity. Despite his many accomplishments, Bart would have told you that his greatest calling was sharing the message of Jesus. He was deeply involved in outreach ministry at First Baptist Church in Hollis, faithfully taught Sunday school at the nursing home, and led a weekly Bible study for a group of young men he cared for deeply. His impact on their lives-and the lives of many others-will not be forgotten.
Survivors include his wife Peggy (Bartlett) Kirchoff of Hollis; daughter Lori Taylor and husband Ty of Rowlett, TX; daughter Kelly Reed and husband Eric of Lucas, TX; granddaughter Macy Taylor of Rowlett, TX; grandson Austin Taylor of Rowlett, TX; and granddaughter Blythe Reed of Lucas, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Russell Kirchoff and Alyce (Dixon) Kirchoff; his sister, Kim Kirchoff; his grandparents, Manley and Eva Pearl Dixon and Elmer "Pop" and Mildred Kirchoff; and brother-in-law, Gil Crane.
Bart will be remembered for his contagious laugh as well as a man of unwavering faith, generosity, and genuine kindness. His life was a testament to what it means to serve others, love deeply, and walked faithfully with God.

Memorial may be made to The Hollis First Baptist Church Outreach Ministry 201 East Jones Hollis, Oklahoma 73550.
