Barbara Johnson, age 67 of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2020 surrounded by her family.
She was born July 11, 1952 in Schenectody, New York to Oscar Turner and Ellen. At the age of eleven. she moved to Altus, Oklahoma. She graduated from Altus High School and later graduated from WOSC in Altus with a bachelors degree in Business Administration. On February 11, 1985 she married the love of her life James L. Johnson, Sr. at the Methodist Church in Altus, Oklahoma. While she may have never served in the military she gave twenty seven years to the Altus Air Force Base Department of Defense Civil Service. She had a strong faith and love for Jesus. She was a proud member of the First United Methodist Church in Altus, Oklahoma. She donated and volunteered a lot of time with the ACME House and several other shelters in the area. She was a very giving person always trying to help other people. Her last act of selflessness was to be a donor to Life Share of Oklahoma.
She loved going fishing, watching football, going to the lake, crocheting, quilting, going to the casinos, going on drives with her son, Jason but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her Father; Oscar Turner, Mother, Ellen Mathis, Step Father "Curly" Mathis, and a Son, Karl Lovett,
Left to honor her memory are, her husband of thirty six years James L. Johnson, three sons; Jimmy L. Lovett Jr. of Waverly, Tennessee; Jason D. and Trina Johnson of Altus, Oklahoma, James L. Johnson, Jr. of Texas, three daughters; Shari and Kevin Best of New Johnsonville, Tennessee, Rebecca and Roy Morton of Texas, Izie and Joe Enos of Hobart, Oklahoma, two brothers; Billy Turner of Darby, Pennsylvania, Ray and Lori Turner of Laverne, Oklahoma, twenty grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at Altus City Cemetery, Altus, Oklahoma.
