Obituary for Arthur Slohn Corey
Arthur Slohn Corey, 61, Altus, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at his home.
Arthur was born on November 23, 1963, in Altus to Clarence and LaVerne (Slohn) Corey. He grew up in Altus and graduated from Altus High School. Arthur attended Western Oklahoma State College until his father fell ill and he had to take over at the glass shop. He operated Altus Glass for several years before retiring. Arthur had a lifelong involvement in the Grand National Horseman Association, being the vice president of the association and was president of the district multiple times. Arthur has always loved his animals, especially his horses. Arthur spent most of his time being in nature admiring the horses at his farm in Mountain View. He loved spending time with family and friends and will be missed by many. Arthur married Deborah Guenzel on March 4, 1995, at the First Baptist Church in Altus. They spent 27 years together making everlasting memories.
His parents; wife; a brother, Wayne Corey; his sister, Cheryl Corey; and an uncle, Truman Slohn, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his brother, Flint Corey and wife, Linda; grandchildren, Nicholas Arnold, Shelby Turner and husband, Nick, Hunter Birmingham and wife, Whitney, Tobey Arnold, and Chris Cortez; great-grandchildren, Willow Birmingham and Aiden Turner; and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Thursday, March 27, 2025, at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, March 28, 2025, at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with BJ Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow in the Blair Cemetery under the care of the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory.
