Obituary for Arlis Ray Thomason
Arlis Ray Thomason, 76, of Altus, passed away Monday, November 10, 2008, at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton.
Arlis was born October 17, 1932, in Altus to Thomas L. and Virgie (Robinson) Thomason. He grew up in Victory and graduated from Victory High School in 1951. Arlis served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Army. He married D'Eon White April 3, 1959, in Altus. Arlis received his Associate's Degree from Altus Junior College and worked in Civil Service at Altus Air Force Base where he wrote maintenance contracts. He also supervised and inspected maintenance jobs. He retired in 2000 after 38 years of service. Arlis loved woodworking and took great pride in his yardwork around his and D'Eon's home. He belonged to the Altus Masonic Lodge and was a member of the Tamarack Road Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, D'Eon Thomason of the home in Altus; a sister-in-law, Inge Thomason, of Tulsa; a nephew, Bryan K. Thomason and wife Rachel of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and a great-niece, Catherine Thomason, also of Stillwater.
Arlis was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, James H. Thomason on May 15, 2007, and three infant sisters, Eva Marie Thomason, Helon Thomason and D'Alma Thomason.
Memorial donations may be made to Victory Cemetery, 19391 E. CR 163, Duke, OK 73532, or to a charity of one's choice.
The family will conduct a Memorial Graveside Service at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 13, 2008, at Victory Cemetery West of Altus with Bill Osborne officiating.
Local arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
