Obituary for Ann Braddock

Ann Braddock 80, long time resident of Altus, passed away Friday at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Services are scheduled for 10:00 am on Tuesday, August 30 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Reverend Mike Trachman and Father Buddy Dugan will officiate. Burial will be at Restlawn Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Braddock was born on October 22, 1924 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to Milton and Bertha Hardy. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1946 with a B.A. in Letters. While attending OU, Braddock of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, Chi Delta Phi (honorary literary society), Phi Beta Kappa, and president of the Mortar Board. She was the Outstanding Senior Woman on campus in 1945. Braddock served on the Advisory Board of the OU Alumni Council, vice president of the Oklahoma Bar Auxiliary, board member of the Jackson County Welfare Department, Salvation Army Board, ;and the ACM House. She was a long tine treasurer of Episcopal Churchwomen and served as co-chair of the South Main Bargain Barrel for over 20 years. Braddock served as treasurer of Chapter CM of P.E.O. for many years and was a two-term president. She was also involved with the Museum of the Western Prairie, Coffee Cup Bunch, the local Panhellenic
organization, and the Jackson County Republican Party.
Braddock married Thomas George Braddock on March 26, 1948, who preceded her in death. She later married William Oden of Lubbock, Texas in the fall of 1999. Oden passed away in November of 2000.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law David and Suzie Braddock, her daughter and son-in-law Dana and Darryl Gatti, and her daughter and son-in-law, Gayle and Don Abernathy; and 6 grandchildren, Adam, Rachel, and Beth Braddock, and Ashley, Braddock, and Abby Abernathy, all of Altus.
The family will greet friends Monday, August 29, 2005 from 7:30
until 8:30 pm at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Southern Prairie Library Museum.
