Obituary for Anita Faye Ellerbee
Anita Fay (Morrison) Ellerbee passed away on April 24, 2021, in Lawton, OK. Anita was born August 30, 1940 to Christine Morrison and was a lifelong resident of Altus. Growing up in "Fruit Jar Flats" with her brother Tommy, Anita had many adventures and made friends that have remained a part of her life. Anita never met a stranger and always had a smile that would light up any room.

Anita worked faithfully all of her life striving to be a good daughter, mother, friend, and champion to the less fortunate. During her 33 year career at Oklahoma Department of Human Services Anita initiated and directed the Volunteer Program in Jackson County which was a model for other offices for many years. She was instrumental in starting Tumbleweed Sheltered Workshop for disabled adults and was on the Board of Directors. Anita was a people-person and went the extra mile to help those in need. She was a born social worker and truly loved her profession. Anita was the perfect example of how a social worker should conduct themselves.

Anita loved life and wanted everyone to enjoy it with her. She bought a condo in Destin, Florida, to help further her love for family and friends. There were memories made there that will last forever in many hearts. Anita loved to "dance in her kitchen", and her home was the scene of friendship, fellowship, family and fun for years.

Anita married Sam Ellerbee of Georgia in 1955 while he was stationed at Altus Air Force Base. This union was blessed with two sons, Bo and Buddy. Anita was dedicated to the welfare of her two sons and spent her life ensuring, as much as it was possible, that their futures would be secure.

Anita was preceded in death by her mother in 2004; her eldest son Bo in 2014; former husband Sam in 2019; and special cousin Patsy White in 2019; and nephew Scotty Davlin in 2020; She is survived by her son Buddy of Georgia; grandsons Brandon and Will of Georgia; grandson Jared of Texas; two great-grandsons of Texas; her brother Tommy Davlin of Altus; nephews T.C. Davlin of Texas; and Jason Davlin of Altus; and her beloved companion Bill Hayes of Blair, OK.

It is not possible to condense Anita's life in just a few paragraphs because her personality was larger than life, she made everyone feel special. She would go beyond what most others would do to welcome you into her world.
