Andrew B. Brundige Sr., age 91, of New Braunfels, Texas and formerly of Mangum, passed away early Saturday morning, September 17, 2011, at Kirkwood Manor in New Braunfels.
Mr. Brundige was born on February 22, 1920 in Oologah, Oklahoma to George Franklin and Susie Bell (Clancy) Brundige. He was a veteran of World War II, a long-time minister of the Church of Christ and taught school in San Antonio for a number of years. He and his wife Ruth finally had their dream fulfilled when they opened a restaurant in Bayfield, Colorado, "Mrs. B"s". They made many friends and enjoyed meeting everyone that came through there. Because of health challenges, they moved back to Mangum to be closer to family. Everyone that knew "Andy" knew of his love of cats. Each one was special to both he and Ruth. He was especially glad to be near his special Mama, "Susie".
Andrew was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; one sister; the mother of his children, Winnie Waller Bark, and most recently his wife Ruth, of 49 years. He is survived by his daughters Donna Mobley and husband Wendell of Texarkana, Arkansas and Pat Chaddick and husband Kent of Baytown, Texas; two sons Andrew B. Brundige Jr. and wife Verdonna of Crossroad, Texas and Ron Brundrige of Temecula, California; seven grandchildren Mike, Tanya, Chris, Nathan, Jennifer, Matthew and Hillery; nine great grandchildren; three sisters, Virginia Zinn and husband Robert of Mangum, Peggy Kimmons of Grandbury, Texas and Judy Niblo and husband Hank of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Earl Brundige of Mangum and Bill Brundige and wife Carol of Canyon, Texas and a step son John Speed and wife Carol of New Braunfeld, Texas and their daughters Tracy and Trish and four step great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Graveside service for Andrew Brundige will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 22, 2011,at Riverside Cemetery in Mangum, Oklahoma, with Todd McRay officiating. Services are under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
The family will greet friends at Greer Funeral Home on Wednesday evening, September 21, 2011, from 6 until 7 p.m.
