LEAMON
Almo Loftan Leamon, age 87, of Mangum, passed away late Monday evening, August 2, 2010, at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City.
Mr. Leamon was born in Jester, Oklahoma, on October 22, 1922, to D.T. and Ettic Viola (Fullen) Leamon. After farming in the Jester and Reed area for many years, he married the love of his life, Anna Lou Tinsley on January 21, 1943, in Wellington, Texas. They spent the next forty-nine wonderful years together before her death on February 9, 1992. For several years, they traveled to different locations with his jobs, returning to Mangum, where he worked at the Mangum Brick Plant from 1967 until 1991. After retiring from the brick plant, he ran his junk yard until 2001. Fishing, playing dominoes and raising cattle were some of his favorite pastimes, but entertaining and being with his grandchildren was what topped them all.
Almo was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one granddaughter, Regina Green; one great-grandson, Bobby Joe Brignon; one daughter, Sara Ann Leamon; four sons, Allen Leamon, Ronald Leamon, Bobby Leamon and Jerry Leamon; one sister and six brothers. He is survived by four daughters, Martha Green and husband John of Granite, Maxine Leal and husband Louis of Mineral Wells, Texas, Jean Avery and Melvin of Mangum and Mary Brignon and Leon of Mangum; two brothers, Bobby Leamon and wife Kay of Grand Prairie, Texas and Guy Leamon and wife Joyce of Mangum; twelve grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Almo Leamon will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, August 5, 2010, at the Church of New Beginnings with Pastor Shawn Laughlin officiating. Interment will follow at White Flat Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
