John Gresham Stark was born on August 23, 1929 in Mangum, Oklahoma to Bolton and Kate (Gresham) Stark. He passed away at the age of 87 in Garland, Texas on Tuesday, August 8, 2017. After he graduated from high school in Electra Texas, he joined the Navy in 1948 and served four years with the Fleet Aircraft Service. Leaving the military, he married Shirley LaDelle Smith of Mangum, Oklahoma. They moved to Dallas Texas in 1953 and started a family. He worked for Ford Motor Company until they closed their Dallas plant in 1972. He then got his journeyman electrician"s license and went to work for Western Electric and retired from there (now AT&T) in 1991. He loved the outdoors, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bolton and Kate Stark, sisters Luella Sheppard and Violet Norris, and brother, Robert Stark. He is survived by daughter Sheryl Diane Coleman and her husband David of Greenville, Texas; daughter Becky Green and her husband Ray of Hideaway, Texas; son Darryl Stark and his wife Carol of Brownsboro, Texas; daughter Katy Young-Paris and her husband Rodney of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren Austin Coleman and his wife Evan of North Chesterfield, Virginia; Angela Hill and her husband Ryan of Gladewater, Texas; Brandon Green and his wife Nikki of Sachse, Texas; Wendi Stark-Warren and her husband David of Orlando, Florida; Katelyn Young of McKinney, Texas; great grandchildren, Zoey and Zane Coleman of North Chesterfield, Virginia; Tyler and Zachary Green of Sachse, Texas and Brody, Tessa and Simon Welker of Orlando, Florida, and other nieces and nephews.
Graveside services for John Gresham Stark will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, August 19, 2017, at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home, of Mangum.
